another update

Now it's May 4th and it feels like March.  We had a few days of lovely 70s and I think even into the 80s.  Then there as a forecast for freezing rain, sleet and snow--all of which did happen.  The snow didn't accumulate, but you could see it flying through the air!  It's been cool and damp, and though I've very glad for the moisture, I'd really rather it rain and be 70 degrees.  The forecast for this coming week looks much better though.
I'm still reading the same blogs here, not posting, except for every few months.  In early April we went to Planet ComiCon and had the joy of meeting George Takei.  It was quick, but very nice.  The con over all was quite big, but I enjoyed it.
Off to read some more...

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Well, since I don't write here much, I don't have a lot to say.  I post my thoughts on another online journal, but I will say that I very much enjoyed reading the last few entries from Bill Levisay.  I might even comment sometime and tell  him that.  And it's always a pleasure to see what Amber Benson has to say, even though she usually posts the same thing on Facebook.
It's January and yesterday I had the windows open and went out and excersized in shorts and at-shirt.  Today, the sun is shining and it looks much the same, but it's about 35 degrees, and that's about as warm as the day will get, as forecasted anyway..
I've been watching some 'Voyager' and 'X-Files' though for more current stuff, yesterday Erik and I watched the new Sherlock Holmes (Brit version with Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch (a name everyone whould write at least once).

what I'm reading here

I just thought I'd take a minute and make note of the blogs I'm following on here.
One is by the actor/writer/director Amber Benson.  She's made some pretty interesting posts about herself, her observations, her writing, what it's like to be a working actor, but not someone who's particularly "Hollywood".  It's cool
There's another by a guy named Bill Levisay.  He's a business guy and a lot of his posts have to do with leadership, but there's also observations he's made about being with different companies, having compassion, being connected etc. I like a lot of the things he has to say, actually.   I found it because he wrote a memorial to his mother-in-law just after she passed away--she was a librarian.  And his sister-in-law is Emily Saliers.
And the most recent blog I've been following is a (just) former student and friend who has moved to Morocco to live and teach.  Her wrtitings and observations are fun to read and I'm glad she's doing well.  It reminds me somewhat of my time in China, though my writing is just in a little journal, which only I have (re)read.  I look forward to her frequent entries.

rediscovery

Well, I just discovered that this blog page is still open, which is cool.  I'll still mostly use this to comment on others posts, but I guess this is a place I can rant about stuff if I want.  Or just follow some other interesting blogs.

Trying something new

Okay, so I've set up a blog.
I dunno if I'm going to use it, but I wanted a profile in case I wanted to make comments to others, without just being anonymous.
That is all.
